The lens keeps its aperture closed and it can not be undone unless it is taken off the camera and mounted again. This also indicates that the aperture mechanism will fail and the item will be unusable once this occurs. There is also a small amount of moisture in the internal elements of the lens. For this reason, the item is being sold as spares and repairs.
